Sound Advice from Haley: HoneyHill Lead Coordinator
Wedding planning is an exciting, sometimes stressful, time. Here are a few pointers I have found to make this an enjoyable process for everyone involved.
First, pick two to three things about the day that you really care about. Maybe there is a specific photographer you had your eye on or maybe you really want to have a floral piece hanging over the ceremony space or a late night snack of chicken and waffles. Put your energy and money into those things and then let the other smaller details fall into place. Lean on your fantastic vendors to figure out the additional details. If there is something you really don’t care much about, ask the vendor for their thoughts on it. They have likely worked so many weddings before and have seen what works well. Or assign those tasks to the friends/family you have that are constantly asking how they can help or giving you a lot of unsolicited advice. And once you assign those tasks over, let them go. From my own experience and the weddings I have worked, all the little details will come into place and those that don’t, you will not even remember (Plus that is why you have us there for anyways ;) ).
Second, when you pick something you love, stick with it. We live in a society where there is always something newer coming out. After choosing my perfect wedding dress, I was still constantly bombarded with photos of other dresses on my social media platforms. Even though I absolutely loved my dress, it was hard to not second guess it after seeing all these other beautiful dresses everyday. Trust your gut. You chose the dress/venue/floral arrangement for a reason.
Last, when the day/week is finally here, take a breath. Soak in all the moments and memories. Take a mental image of your friends and family smiling as you walk down the aisle or dancing into the wee hours with all of your best friends in one place. They all came here because of how much love they have for you and your partner. Take a moment for the two of you as well. Even if it's just 5 minutes. The day will fly by, and you will cherish that moment to share a few laughs and fun stories just the two of you. You did it! Now onto the exciting part, a lifetime full of additional memories to make :)
