More Weddings, More Trees
At HoneyHill, we care about creating a more sustainable local wedding industry and this starts with choosing vendors who care about it too. We are passionate about making a difference in the community and creating a greener world one couple, one tree at a time. HoneyHill partners with a local non-profit company called Tree Trust and for every single wedding, HoneyHill donates and plants a tree in your honor. This is such a special partnership and one that truly makes a difference in our local community. Greener Futures is a program through Tree Trust that “transforms lives and landscapes by engaging people to build skills for meaningful careers, inspiring people to plant trees, and making our community a greener, healthier place to live.” All in all, more weddings means more trees.
Guest Attire: As a guest at a wedding, borrow or alternate clothes with friends, neighbors, thrift or find alternatives to purchasing a new dress for every wedding you attend
Use pieces of your dress for future use, donate your dress to a good cause, alter and reuse on your honeymoon
Hire florists who use sustainable methods and stay away from floral foam. There are many florists who grow flowers on their own!
Use real glassware! Between your rehearsal dinner, getting ready, water, cocktial hour and dinner there are thousands of cups being used. Something as simple as purchasing or renting reusable items makes a huge difference in overall wedding waste!
Reuse, recycle and rethink your centerpieces: fruit, edible centerpieces, potted plants, etc.
Filling up your registry: Think about how you would like to fill your home. Limit plastic and go for lifetime items. If you do not need to fill your home, think about asking people to donate to your favorite local charity.
Support your local artists or save paper by sending your save the dates via email.
Hire a vendor team that prioritizes reducing waste and uses sustainable practices.
Think about booking rooms at a bed and breakfast for out of town family and friends.
Thrifting is a great way to find previously loved items. From candlesticks and centerpieces, to rehearsal dinner dresses and jewelry, you can give something another life for your wedding. *Disclaimer: Do not underestimate the difficulty of thrifting and transporting all of these items on the day of your wedding. Look for smaller pieces you can incorporate into your day.
Honeymoon: Think about spending your money at local businesses if possible and choose sustainable transportation.
At a bachelorette party spend your money wisely and locally on small businesses in the area! Stay at family owned bed and breakfast. Do not overdo it on decor or gifts, the best gift is time well spent together!
If you are looking to create a fun and epic wedding reception entrance or exit think about using eco-confetti or an alternative including, bird seed, dried lilac or flowers or leaf cut outs.
Give your wedding flowers another life and make someones day by donating what you will not reuse. Think about donating your flowers to a children's hospital, women's shelter or local nursing home
Partner with Catering companies that will compost, recycle and possibly use any leftover food so as to limit waste as much as possible.
