Early Morning Thoughts: The Weight of a Wedding

After all your vendors are booked, your budget is set, your hors d'oeuvre are picked, the gravity of spending your life with someone sets in.

My best wedding planning advice to you is to let the weight of your future marriage take over in every detail. When you plan with the knowledge of the weight of sharing a life with someone, details seem smaller and getting exactly what you want seems less important. Also, details are so good they can bring so much joy and color to a wedding event but do not let it get in the way of what is important. Love and sacrifice go hand in hand, practice this in your planning. Wedding planning is the start of your marriage. Practice kindness and generosity. Practice listening and compromise. Practice love and sacrifice and forgiveness. Know that wedding planning is finite, whereas marriage is infinite. As much as possible, enjoy! Take a deep breath and know that with or without every item being perfect, it will be more than what you imagined because of you who you are spending the rest of your life with.

Show up to your marriage like you show up to your wedding. Caffeinated, smiling, dancing and singing.
